Common Issues and Solutions
If something is not working as expected, this guide covers the most common problems and how to resolve them quickly.
Resume Not Saving
Symptom: Changes you make in the editor do not appear the next time you open your resume. The "Saved" indicator does not appear, or shows "Error saving".
Possible causes and solutions:
-
Lost internet connection — The editor requires an active internet connection to save. Check your connection and look for the status indicator at the top of the editor. A red indicator means the last save failed. Reconnect and press Ctrl+S to force a save.
-
Session expired — If you have been inactive for a long time, your session may have expired. Refresh the page — you will be prompted to log in again. Your most recently auto-saved version will be intact (auto-save runs every 30 seconds).
-
Browser storage full — The editor uses local browser storage as a temporary buffer. If your browser's local storage is full, saves can fail silently. Clear your browser cache and try again.
-
Ad blocker or browser extension interfering — Some ad blockers and privacy extensions block API requests. Try disabling extensions temporarily and saving again. If that resolves it, add an exception for cvbuilder.krokanti.com.
Export Fails or Produces a Blank PDF
Symptom: Clicking Export produces a file that does not download, downloads a corrupted file, or produces a PDF with blank pages.
Solutions:
-
Try again — PDF generation is server-side and can occasionally time out. Wait 30 seconds and try again.
-
Check for unsupported characters — Certain rare Unicode characters (some emoji, unusual currency symbols) can cause PDF rendering to fail. Look for any pasted content that might include unusual characters.
-
Reduce resume length — Very long resumes (5+ pages) with many embedded images can time out during generation. Try exporting a shorter version first to confirm the export pipeline is working.
-
Use a different browser — The download trigger can occasionally be blocked by aggressive security settings. Try Chrome or Firefox if you are using a less common browser.
-
Disable popup blocker — The PDF download opens in a new window or triggers a download dialog. If your browser's popup blocker is aggressive, it may suppress the download. Allow popups for cvbuilder.krokanti.com.
Cannot Log In
Symptom: Your email and password are correct but you cannot sign in, or you see "Invalid credentials".
Solutions:
-
Check for typos — Email addresses are case-insensitive, but make sure there are no trailing spaces. Passwords are case-sensitive.
-
Reset your password — Click Forgot password on the sign-in page. Enter your email and check your inbox (and spam folder) for the reset link. The link expires after 30 minutes.
-
Google sign-in conflict — If you originally registered with Google and are now trying to sign in with email/password, go back to the sign-in page and use Continue with Google instead. Accounts created via Google do not have a password set by default. You can add a password in Settings > Security > Set a Password.
-
Account does not exist — If you have never signed up, go to the sign-up page. If you are unsure, try the password reset flow — you will see an error message if the email is not registered.
-
2FA issue — If you have lost access to your authenticator app, use one of the backup codes you saved when you enabled 2FA. If you do not have backup codes, contact support@krokanti.com to verify your identity and reset your 2FA.
LinkedIn Import Not Working
Symptom: The CSV file upload fails, the import completes but nothing appears, or only partial data is imported.
Solutions:
-
Wrong file format — Make sure you are uploading the CSV files extracted from your LinkedIn archive zip, not the zip file itself. The importer accepts
.csvfiles only. -
File is not from LinkedIn — The importer expects files in the exact format LinkedIn exports them. If you edited the CSV file in Excel and re-saved it, the format may have changed. Download a fresh export from LinkedIn.
-
Missing Positions.csv — Work experience is in
Positions.csv, notProfile.csv. If your work history did not import, make sure you uploaded the correct file. -
LinkedIn export is still processing — LinkedIn sometimes takes up to 24 hours to prepare your data export. If the archive just arrived, make sure it is the complete archive and not a partial one.
-
UTF-8 encoding issue — If your profile contains non-Latin characters (Arabic, Chinese, accented European characters), the CSV may not be UTF-8 encoded. Try opening the CSV in a text editor and re-saving as UTF-8 before uploading.
Resume Looks Different After Switching Templates
Expected behavior: When you switch templates, the visual appearance changes (fonts, spacing, header style) but your content is preserved. This is working as intended.
If content appears to be missing, check whether you are looking at a different resume. Use the back button to return to your dashboard and confirm you are in the correct file.
I Cannot Find a Feature Mentioned in the Help Center
Our product is updated regularly. If a feature is mentioned in the help center but you cannot find it in your account, it may be:
- A Pro feature — upgrade to Pro from Settings > Subscription
- A feature in the right panel — click directly on a block to see its full options
- A recently released feature — try clearing your browser cache and reloading
If none of the above resolves your issue, contact us at support@krokanti.com. Include a description of the problem and, if possible, a screenshot of what you are seeing.
