Using the Visual Resume Editor

The Krokanti CV Builder visual editor is the core of the product. It uses a block-based system where every element on your resume is an independent, repositionable block. This gives you full control over layout without requiring design skills.

The Editor Interface

When you open a resume, the editor is divided into three areas:

  • Left panel — block library and section list
  • Canvas — your resume preview, which you can click and edit directly
  • Right panel — properties for the selected block (fonts, colors, spacing)

Drag-and-Drop Blocks

Every section is a block. Blocks can be dragged vertically to reorder sections on the page. To move a block, hover over it until the drag handle (six dots) appears on its left edge, then click and drag it to the desired position.

Blocks snap into position automatically. You cannot accidentally overlap two blocks — the layout system prevents it.

The 14 Block Types

Krokanti CV Builder supports 14 distinct block types, each designed for a specific kind of resume content:

  1. Personal Details — name, email, phone, address, website, LinkedIn, GitHub
  2. Professional Summary — rich-text paragraph block
  3. Work Experience — repeatable entries with role, company, dates, and bullet points
  4. Education — repeatable entries with degree, institution, and graduation year
  5. Skills — tag-style or list-style skills display
  6. Languages — language name with proficiency level indicator
  7. Certifications — credential name, issuer, and date
  8. Projects — project title, description, URL, and technologies used
  9. Awards and Honors — title, issuing organization, and year
  10. Volunteer Work — role, organization, and description
  11. Publications — title, publisher, and year
  12. References — contact details or "Available upon request"
  13. Custom Section — a free-form text block for anything not covered above
  14. Divider — a visual separator line to group related sections

Adding and Removing Blocks

Click the + Add Block button at the bottom of the left panel to insert a new block. Select the type you want and it appears at the bottom of your canvas. Drag it to the correct position.

To remove a block, select it and click the trash icon in the right panel, or press Delete on your keyboard when the block is selected but not in text-edit mode.

Auto-Save

Your work is saved automatically every 30 seconds. You will see a small Saved indicator in the top toolbar when a save completes. You can also trigger a manual save at any time with Ctrl+S (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+S (Mac).

Do not close the browser tab immediately after making changes — wait for the Saved indicator before leaving.

Undo and Redo

The editor maintains a full history of changes within your session. Use:

  • Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z — undo the last action
  • Ctrl+Y / Cmd+Shift+Z — redo an undone action

The history resets when you close the editor tab. Changes that have been saved to the server are permanent even after a history reset.

Rich Text Formatting

Inside text blocks (Summary, Work Experience descriptions, Custom Sections), you have access to a mini formatting toolbar that appears when you select text. Supported formatting includes bold, italic, underline, bulleted lists, numbered lists, and hyperlinks.

Avoid excessive formatting — clean, readable text scores better with ATS systems.

Tips for Best Results

  • Keep your resume to one page for most roles (two pages maximum for senior positions)
  • Use the Preview button frequently to check how the printed version will look
  • Fill in the Personal Details block completely — recruiters need your contact info at a glance
  • Use bullet points in Work Experience to describe achievements, not just responsibilities
